Raising Boys by Design is a unique parenting book that combines Biblical wisdom with the latest research in brain science. For this book, a Bible-based psychologist and a science-based marriage and family counsellor have joined together and draw on their more than fifty years of collective research. The book is packed full of practical strategies and eye-opening examples. It is not prescriptive at all but rather encourages parents to conduct their own study of what makes a boy a boy and equips them to help their son thrive all the way to manhood.
Jantz and Gurian offer a blueprint to help build a HERO. The acronym stands for Honour, Enterprise, Responsibility and Originality. The authors cover topics such as character, self-discipline, emotional life, healthy sexuality, school, the impact of technology and the importance of rites of passage into manhood.
Raising Boys by Design is one of the best parenting books I have read. It gives you fresh insights into the God-given design of boys and a deeper understanding not only of your son, but of all men in your life. I highly recommend this book to any parent, grandparent and teacher of boys. A definite must-read!
